Birth & Deterioration - Spit CD-R

Birth are an old-style goregrind two-piece from St. Paul, Minnesota, USA and Deterioration are a crusty grindcore band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Birth play an absolutely disgusting and relentlessly pulverizing form of old-school crusty goregrind - very much comparable to Autophagia, Dead Infection, Last Days Of Humanity, Regurgitate, Lymphatic Phlegm, etc. - and while retaining most of the cheesy b-movie gore goodness, Birth are adamant of expressing their anti-sexist, anti-racist, anti-oppressive views.

Deterioration are not goregrind, but are quite similar to Birth, in that they do not skim on the intensity. They deliver an intensive blast of fast grindcore, immediately bringing to mind Insect Warfare or Warsore. The split was self-released by the bands themselves and is still available from Deterioration, HERE. So I encourage you to spare the money if you can, and support the DIY grinders!

Deche-Charge, Human Jerky, Kusari Gama Kill & VRV - 4-Way Split Tape (2010)

Deche-Charge is a legendary noisecore band from Quebec City, Canada; Human Jerky is a goregrind two-piece from St-Jean Sur Richelieu, Quebec, Canada; Kusari Gama Kill is an experimental noisecore band from Copenhagen, Denmark; VRV is a legendary noisecore band from Antwerp, Belgium. An exceptionally phenomenal split for all with visceral tastes and with some of the noisiest, most destructive and vile bands in the entirety of grindcore. The split was released by the infamous Greek label, Septic Aroma Of Reeking Stench.

CSMD, Deche-Charge & Intumescence - 3-Way Split CD-R (2009)

CSDM (Crowd Surfers Must Die) is a long-running noisecore band from Leiden, Holland, The Netherlands; Deche-Charge is a legendary noisecore band from Quebec, Canada; Intumescence is a goregrind band from The Netherlands. Absolute devastatingly noisy split; two noisecore's finest and hideous Dutch goregrind! The split was released by the Dutch, No Fucking Labels, who is operated by members of CSMD.

Ptychozoon - Reptilian

Ptychozoon is a bizarre mincegrind / powerviolence from Bear, Delaware, USA. If you haven't picked up on it already, the lyrical content is exclusively focused on our lovely friends, reptiles - and apparently, a "Ptychozoon is a genus of arboreal gecko from Southeast Asia, known as Flying Geckos or Parachute Geckos". Maybe the habits of reptiles are a metphor for some larger socio-political signifigance? I highly doubt it and would say it's more probably that these guys just spend their Saturdays smoking weed while watching horrible Godzilla ripoff movies. Nonetheless, this first demo contains some really unique and intensive grindviolence, so try this out if you're feeling adventurous or if you happen to be a National Geographic-obsessed grinder.

Various Artists - Lo-Fi Or Die! Compilation

Lo-Fi Or Die! - Lo-Fi Grindcore Compilation, Vol. I is an international tape compilation of mostly crustgrind / mincecore bands, put out by a brand new label called Tearache Records (and it's actually their very first release, as well!).

Included on this comp are: PxNxGx (Switzerland), Rust (Finland), Sakatat (Turkey), Terror Firmer (Italy), Insomnia Isterica (Switzerland), SMG (Malaysia), Lt. Dan (USA), Compulsion To Kill (Malaysia) and Dispepsiaa (Brazil).

Blood Suckers - Fuck Milk...Got Beer? (1999)

Blood Suckers were a mincecore band from Attert, Belgium that existed from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. Along with bands such as Acoustic Grinder, Cladophora Glomerata, Cornicopia, Intestinal Disease and Mindfart, Blood Suckers were included in a small and short lived Belgian scene that formed as soon as Agathocles had made somewhat of a name for themselves in the scene there. So there's a very distinct stylistic similarity between all these bands but strangely, there's much more an emphasis on 'traditional punk' - such as Subhumans (UK) or Oi Polloi (Scotland) - than Agathocles had ever embraced.

Anyway, this was the first and only full-length of the band, which came out on CD-R in 1999 by some unknown Italian label and is now likely way of print. I wouldn't say it's anything earth-shattering but if you've heard any of the others I mentioned above from that mini-AGX inspired scene, then you'll rightfully be expecting some solid mince!

Thanatopsis - Defleshed In Excrements

Thanatopsis is a two-piece pathological goregrind band, with one member from Brazil and one from Sweden. Formed in 2010, they play in the vein and take major influence from classics, like Carcass, Dead Infection, Haemorrhage, Last Day Of Humanity, Regurgitate, Pathologist, Necrony or Ulcerous Phlegm, as well as from newer bands like Autophagia, Feculent Goretomb, Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage, Lymphatic Phlegm, Pulmonary Fibrosis, etc. Short and to-the-point songs, very chaotic, messy, crusty, disgusting, noisy and pulverizing; all the key ingredients that make them exceptionally authentic of the early goregrind days.

Even though Thanatopsis is a relatively new band, they've already proven to be some of the best goregrind in the scene today and are a band to carefully keep your eye on. Anyway, not sure on the details of the 'Defleshed in Excrements' other than it was released on tape, presumably by the band themselves and it may be either their first or second release ever. You can write the band an email if you wish to find more of their releases, arrange a split or just send them some compliments on their noise at: demonizerbr AT gmail DOT COM.

Total Hipster Crusher - Spring / Summer Tour 2012

Total Hipster Crusher is a mincegrind band from Flowerville, Michigan, USA. They'll be doing - what I believe is - their first ever tour, which extends through both the states and Canada. I'm personally extremely excited about this - as should you be, if they're playing in your town - as they fucking rule and I'll actually be seeing them on June 1st. Anyway, the tour starts May 20th and ends on June 3rd. PLEASE make sure you make it out to one of the gigs and support these lovable DIY grinding nerds. Here are the dates:

**** EDIT: ENTIRE TOUR HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY CANCELLED

Sete Star Sept - U.S.A. West Coast Mini-Tour 2012

Sete Star Sept is an absolutely fucking devastating grindcore two-peiece from Tokyo, Japan. Their lineup consists of the ex-drummer from The Endless Blockade (he used to live here in Toronto) and an intensely pissed the fuck off, denim-clad female guitarist / vocalist, whose name I do not know, but could probably strangle you to death, if you were to upset her in the slightest. Anyway, they're very comparable to most other notable Japanese grindcore or 'japgrind' - such as Senseless Apocalypse, Realized, Damage Digital, Swarrrm or even Discordance Axis from the states. However, Sete Star Sept has a slightly nosier, more unique / experimental and genuinely more livid sound to that of their Japanese grinding peers, and have become a favorite of the entire Japanese scene for me and many others, ever since they first graced North American soil on their Spring / Summer tour in 2011.

Need I say more or can I be sure you're already writing one of these dates in your silly little day-planner?

April 28 (Saturday): San Francisco, CA at Parkside w/ Tragedy (OR)
April 29 (Sunday): Portland, OR at Brickshit House w/ Transient
April 30 (Monday): Seattle, WA at Club M w/ Sidetracked

May 3 (Thursday): Las Vegas, NV at Yayo Taco
May 4 (Friday): Los Angeles, CA at Rito's house w/ Suffering Luna
May 5 (Saturday): Concord, CA at Greenhouse w/ Godstomper

Backslider - MMXII Spring / Summer Tour 2012

Backslider is a pummeling fastcore band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The dates for their upcoming U.S. tour throughout the end of March and most of April are all listed below. If they're playing in your area, go see them one final time - or more - before they had off for their European tour w/ The Afternoon Gentlemen in June. You'll be sorry if you don't!

Hydrocele - EP (2012)

Hydrocele is a one-man goregrind / gorenoise project from Moscow, Russia. Summed up, this first EP masters the exact sound that Last Days of Humanity played on their 'Putrefaction in Progress' record; essentially, the relentless 'tin-can snare' blast beast with inaudible riffs due to the drums being way to high in the mix, which some argue was the birth of the gorenoise genre. Anyway, this has got be some of the best later LDOH imitation grind out there and dare I say Hydrocele may have even perfected that which initially came from the Dutchmen in LDOH themselves. Here is the first ever release for Hydrocele, which to my knowledge, has only been available from the download that's been foating around online.

Shitfaced - Cannibalistic Noise Feast (2011)

Shitfaced is a one-man noisecore band from a small town in Sweden. I can't even really attempt a description of just how incredibly fucking amazing this 3" CD is but I'll say that it's insanely goofy, primitive, intensive, noisy, savage, DIY and sloppy. There are obvious influences coming from all facets of old-school grind, such as from crustgrind, goregrind and also mincecore. This is definitely NOT just another noisecore band, this is some of the most authentic old-school grind who brings forth all the best element of the genre. HIGHLY recommended and keep your fucking eye on this band!

Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage - A Tapeology Of Grievous Traumas 1999-2006 (2009)

Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage was a one-man goregrind project from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Many considered the project of the best and most authentic newer goregrind acts of all time; taking extremely precise influence from early bands, like Carcass, Dead Infection, Last Days Of Humanity, Regurgitate, Necrony, Ulcerous Phlegm, Pathologist, General Surgery, etc. and while at the same time being unique as well as taking the genre into even further intensive and pulverizing depths.

Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage is blistering fast as well as exceptionally crusty and noisy; ranking them alongside the likes of other newer goregrind, such as Autophagia, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Oxidised Razor and are even comparable to the almighty Warsore. This is seriously some of the best goregrind on the entire planet, so I highly recommend them to anyone whose even got a remote curiosity about the genre or thinks a set idea of what goregrind is; you will not be disappointed. THIS is fucking goregrind. A Tapeology Of Grievous Traumas 1999-2006 was released by the Swiss, Goatgrind Records, and was the last release by the band; compiling nearly all of their material on one CD.

Archagathus & Goner - Raw Grind Whirlwind Of Doom (2009)

Archagathus is a mincecore band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Goner is a two-piece crustgrind band from Los Angeles, California, USA. Archagathus sound exactly like Agathocles and Rot, to the finest detail; simple and catchy but heavy songs with two riffs maximum, blast beats, d-beats, polka beats and duel-vocal trade offs (one being a pitch-shifter). Goner is an extremely intense, pulverizing, fast and crusty band; explicitly influenced by the likes of Excruciating Terror, Ulcerrhoea and Warsore. They're also still relatively new and have few releases out, which you'll definitely be sad about after you hear their side of the split. This was released on tape by Don't Fear The Night Tapes and I'm pretty sure it's sold out, but you can write an ask.

Gowl - 2 (2011)

Gowl is a 3-piece grindcore / mincecore band from South Windsor, Connecticut, USA. They're definitely very recognizable as playing in the vein of the recent 'mince revival' scene in the states; comparable to their peers Lt. Dan, Pizza Hi-Five, Misanthropic Noise or Powercup. However, Gowl is exceptionally noisier, dirtier and grimier than the bands mentioned above, replacing a lot of the goofiness, powerviolence-influence and spastic-like qualities with straight-ahead blasting, walls of static and pure devastation. This deems them to be quite comparable to the almighty Fear of God as well as Violent Gorge. Definitely an extremely crushing, heavy and noisy band to keep your eye out for. Here is what I believe is their second demo, which was self-released by the band on tape.

Lycanthrophy - Collection 1998-2009 (2010)

Lycanthrophy is a female-fronted grindcore / powerviolence band from Zdar Nad Sazavou / Podebrady, Czech Republic. The best I can describe them would be stupidly fast, a little awkward (in a good way), political and pissed the fuck off.

Here's most of their discography - excluding the full-length and assorted other stuff - compiled on one CD.

Compost - Frigoverre

Compost is a goregrind band from Rome, Italy. They're relatively new and other than this first demo, they've got a couple of splits and possibly other small releases out - which I have yet to hear.

I'm not going to lie, this demo is good, although nothing  incredible but I think the main attraction I - or anyone else who actively seeks music they can laugh at - had to this band was the lyrical content, of which revolves almost exclusively around the decomposition of vegetable matter.

Download

Meatus - Laboratory For Fecal Analysis (2011)

Meatus is an old-style goregrind band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The band was formed as a side project of the members from Archagathus, Violent Gorge, Skeleton and Loutish - who also run Aggressive Valley Tapes and Don't Fear The Night Tapes - with the intent to play raw, filthy and noisy goregrind, as per the early days of the genre. And they have certainly succeeded; not only does it sound like an extremely well-done and slightly recalibrated version of classic Carcass, Dead Infection or Regurgitate but with a really fantastic paired filtering of thick crust and mincecore that Winnipeg is known for. Insanely catchy, heavy, violent, repulsive and definitely with a distinct sound of it's own. Lyrical content is fairly unique, in that the recent works have focused on illness, medicine, torture and other generally fucked up primitive practices that occurred during daily life the middle-ages. Anyway, this is seriously a band to keep an eye out for! Here is a tape of theirs (not sure if it's considered a demo or EP) which was self-released by the band in 2011.

Streptococcus Pyogenes - Hospital Of Human Degenaration (2011)

Streptococcus Pyogenes is a pathological goregrind one-man band from Athens, Greece. Musically, SxPx plays pure, old-school, raw, disgusting, chaotic, filthy and noisy goregrind, taking major influence from such early classics as Carcass, Dead Infection, Regurgitate, Last Days Of Humanity, Malignant Tumour, General Surgery, Necrony, Pathologist, Ulcerous Phlegm, etc. But the noise also compares highly to newer goregrind like, Autophagia, Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage, Embryonic Cryptopathia, Feculent Goretomb, Lymphatic Phlegm, Oxidised Razor, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Scatologic Madness Possession, etc.

And what sets SxPx from a lot of bands in the goregrind scene is that there is tons of influence in particular from crust / hardcore, which to me is a perfect combination that brings the genre to even more pulverizing levels. Lyrically, expect advanced medical terminology with endless references to diseases and dysfunction. SxPx is absolutely one of the best goregrind bands of the current scene and of all time - which is extremely rare to say for this newer era of the genre - so enjoy some true goregrind, the way it is meant to be played! Hospital Of Human Degenaration was an E.P. that came out in 2011, limited to 100 copies on MCD, and was released by Stick Your Nose In A Garbage Bag Full Of Medical Waste Records from Greece (who is run by Nick of Streptococcus Pyogenes).

Birth & Human Jerky - Split CD

Birth are from St. Paul, Minnesota, USA and Human Jerky is from St-Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. Both bands play absolutely disgusting and relentless old-style, crusty goregrind, and while retaining most of the cheesy gore goodness, both bands hold adamant anti-oppressive socio-political views.

Whether you appreciate filthy goregrind or are simply intrigued by the idea of 'PC goregrind', I don't think you'll find this any less than completely devastating as fuck!

Lastly, I encourage you to support the DIY undergrind, so order the CD from Violent Annoyise Records if you can, for the sole purpose of allowing lovable grindcore nerds to continually destroy people's ears.

Autophagia - Mutilate Your Enemy (2005)

Autophagia was a one-man pathological goregrind band from Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, Greece and was formed in 1997. In terms of sound, Autophagia was probably the most punk, intensive and visceral goregrind ever; mixing old-style goregrind with crustgrind, mincecore, noisecore and even a tiny bit of powerviolence song structure. Most influences include bands like Dead Infection, Last Days Of Humanity, Regurgitate, Extreme Noise Terror, Disrupt, Agathocles, Fear Of God, Rot, Warsore, 7 Minutes Of Nausea, Sore Throat, Gore Beyond Necropsy, etc. Mutilate Your Enemy was a short but pummeling CD EP from 2005.

Anyway, you need to go if they're coming to to you and be sure to pick up their new self-titled CD / LP if you can, because it fucking rules.

Severed Tongue - Demo (2010)

Severed Tongue is a powerviolence band from Newfoundland, Canada. I'm unsure as to it is when they formed, where exactly they are in Newfoundland or if they even still exist. This demo, however, is absolute brutality and undeniably some of the best I've heard in the genre during the past 5 years. Not much else to I guess other than you should really listen to this and hope they still are a band.

Six Brew Bantha - Spring / Summer Tour 2012

Six Brew Bantha are an intensely viscous grind band - influenced heavily by powerviolence and mincecore -from Victoria, BC, Canada and are embarking on their first ever tour outside of Canada in late April. As you can see below, they're basically playing with incredible fucking bands on every date of this monstrous extravaganza. Also, the dudes are teaming up with mighty mincecore mongrels Lt. Dan and Agitate for a bunch of scattered bunch of dates starting on April 27th until May 27th but again, 'scattered' accurately describes that as you'll on the poster at the top.

Dates are obvious subject to relative change until their weed-filled van - and passengers - start the journey. Also, if you book shows, look out for the 'CONTACTS NEEDED' specified dates and get them to play your mom's basement. I'm almost 100% you can pay the band in pizza.

Ahna / Prison Violence - April Mini-Tour 2010

F.A.T.O. & Karma Jawless - Split EP (2005)

F.A.T.O. were a mincecore / thrashcore band from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Formed around the early 2000s and broke-up in 2009 after the tragic death of their bassist, founding member and all around amazing human being, Michael Majewski. During their existence as a band, local and occasional out-of-town gigs were a regular event but as far as I know, they didn't tour or play shows that weren't in relative driving distance. Their sound is kind of unique; firstly, because they were only bass-drums-vocals until they got a guitarist for gigs in their final couple years and secondly, it incorporates a lot of normally not 'mashed together' styles (aside from mincecore and thrashcore, there were some obvious speed metal and slight death metal hints to the tunes. Lyrics are mostly about stupid funny shit, but that was to be expected by you after glancing at the cover(s), yes?

Karma Jawless is the other band on this split and I don't know anything about them other than that their from Lithuania. Never bothered listening to the Karma Jawless side because the song titles hinted that lyrically, they share common misogynistic idiocy with pornogrind - and thus, got turned off entirely. They may be decent musically though, give it a listen if you have the patience.

Here's a split CD-R between the two bands, "Live Terror" and "Demo #1/Split Live Tape". Be aware that this is ALL live material.

Take One For The Team - Mosh Hard With A Vengeance (2006)

Take One For The Team are a thrashcore band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. They've been active since the early 2000s and have done some considerable gigging within Canada during that time, so if you've been here and into to moderately cool shit in the last 10 years, you probably know - or know of - their existence. As I already mentioned, the style is in the thrashcore vein - think stuff like Lärm, What Happens Next?, Vöetsek - which is not totally dissimilar from grind in itself, but because the lineup is comprised of a couple grinders, it definitely reflects a little in the music. The lyrics follow with the usual really really stupid and funny approach, so stay away from this unless you wear water-wings and put things up your nose on a daily basis.

I think they've actually broken up but check out neat side-projects that they continue to play in: Harsh Supplement, Critical Convictions, Dirty Methods and Have At It! to name a few, there might be a lot more I'm missing. Their bassist / vocalist, Richard, runs Sir Punkly Records who has an incredible awesome catalog of fast/noisy/loud shit, so be sure to check that out and throw him some chedda if you can (AKA ordering records).

Column Of Heaven - Ecstatically Embracing All That We Habitually Suppress (2011)

Column Of Heaven are a powerviolence band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Formed in 2011 after The Endless Blockade broke-up - due to their guitarist's desire to move to Bermuda - Column Of Heaven essentially carry on in a very very similar path. But if you've never heard The Endless Blockade, the best I could describe that sound is very generally, "the serious side of powerviolence" - No Comment, Crossed Out, M.I.T.B. and the like, absolutely NONE of the goofy Charles Bronson or Spazz comedy routine shit that often gets wrongly labelled powerviolence. Proponents of well-utilized harsh noise and power electronics were/are incorporated, more so with purpose to complement certain parts of - as well as change - the overall listening experience.

Blockade were sometimes comparable, although far less frequently, to some as being a distance cousin of the "modern hardcore" that had more than two notes per record and weren't part of the whole bro / tough guy hXc crap; but rather, along the lines of Integrity, Left for Dead, Cursed or Haymaker. Additionally, some solid doom / sludge and black / death metal influences are more than easily detectable. Lyrically, both Blockade and C.O.H. have had a predominant focus on esoteric spirituality, with some abstracts ideas regarding society, history and culture - and I'll say it that generally because I'm nowhere near knowledge on the specific disciplines many of the concepts are lifted from, but needless to say, it's laden with an incredible degree of 'advanced ideologies' and you might consider visiting your local scholarly institution for a translation.

Column Of Heaven have not gigged often thus far, but they'll be doing playing around Canada - and possibly the US - come spring / summer of 2012, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled.

Here's the very first - and now completely sold out - demo tape / 7", "Ecstatically Embracing All That We Habitually Suppress".

Jenkem - Butt Hash (2011)

Jenkem are a mincegrind band from Kamloops, BC, Canada. I'd suspect these dudes formed quite recently, because this demo seems to be their only release so far. And so I don't really have any information on them, other than them being pretty much unknown outside the rad-as-fuck BC grind community and that they've started doing gigs. Musically, this is nothing new; same crusty and crushing formula that's being used by recent mince from the states.

Here's their first release, 'Butt Hash' - a demo I stole off their bandcamp, not sure if this was ever physically released at all or not.

Massgrave - Massgrave (2011)

Massgrave is a crustgrind band from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Not sure exactly when they formed - probably around 2000 or 2001 - and as far as I'm concerned, they've been the single most important band carrying on the crustgrind tradition that Napalm Death (more so F.E.T.O.) - Extreme Noise Terror - Disrupt - Dropdead and Excruciating Terror lead from the late 1980s-mid 1990s. And so as you can probably anticipate, Massgrave IS the next chronological crustgrind band that comes next; they're music, lyrics and conceptuals are basically all of the above bands - give or take a few additional crusting and grinding influences - mashed together in blender by a bunch of lovable, non-hygienic and pissed crusties who probably prefer to eat organic potatoes (fuck yeah). Although the sociopolitical lyrical content is really nothing new for the genre, I find they have a greater impact than any of the above bands and am not entirely sure why.

They've finally been getting some much deserved attention outside BC, which is likely due to their excessive and continued touring of Canada as well as the states - and which means their likely headed your way soon if you're in North America, so fucking GO SEE THEM! They played here in Toronto a long-ass time ago with F.A.T.O. and I'm eternally horrified I was not there, but I was probably a wee child who was just discovering Darkthrone at the time. Random fact you probably don't care about: I included the lyrics to "Unbalanced Privileged" from the record, on an assignment I did on oppression and privilege for my social work class.

Here's their most recent release, a self-titled CD / LP released by the almighty Haunted Hotel Records in NYC (support them and buy a copy if you like it, it's a fucking rad label).

Mesrine - Jack is Dead (2005)

Mesrine - the last name of the infamous serial killer, Jacques Mesrine - are a mincecore band from Quebec City, Canada - or French Canada, if you're slow on geography as I normally am. Formed in 1998, these poutine-loving mince enthusiasts have essentially milked their entire existence from Dahmer - an earlier and 'legendary' mincecore band from Quebec City who was active in the early to late 1990s and wrote exclusively about serial killers, occasionally some stupid humus shit. Now, that's not said in a negative way at all, because as we all know originality something of relatively no importance in the genre - I think we're actually lucky to have a band that has carried on the sound of Dahmer so closely.

Other noteworthy grind projects of current and former members of the band that you should check out include Thinkshit, Deche-Charge, Demolish, Retarded Rooster, S.G.N., Anal Jackson, Dis-Eased, Fistfuck, G.O.D., Fuck The Facts and I think that's about it. And again, this is just not "some Dahmer clone band" - most of the Mesrine dudes were in the above projects since the late 80s / early 1990s and have likely been involved in grind longer than most of us have. They've played well over 1,000 gigs in Canada and have toured Europe at least 4 times. Also, if you ever get to see them live - you can't if you're American because of some criminal shit they have or something - make sure you scream "MOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at the top of your lungs. I don't know why.

Here's a CD that compiles tons of their non-full-length material from 1999 to 2004, 'Jack is Dead'.

Abortion - Have A Nice Day (2002)

Abortion is a long-running mincecore band from Branč, Slovakia. Formed in 1989, they've strangely never received much recognition outside the small close-knit European scenes. The music bares quite obvious similarity to mincecore pioneers, Agathocles, but they've actually got a lot of other notably present influences in their sound - such as crossover / thrash, early UK crust/grind (like E.N.T., Unseen Terror) and a very small bit of death metal influence. Lyrically, the focus is undoubtedly sociopolitical - also resembling Agathocles - however, their style is done far more in a comedic / humerus and sarcastic manner, and doesn't really come in an activist tone but more 'this is how shit is and we're reporting on it because we're punx'. There's a lot really cleverly used samples from Loony Tunes or Bugs Bunny - or whatever the fuck were the popular 40s cartoons - that convey this and has sort of been their 'signature thing' for most of their existence as a band.

I've personally been really into these guys since I discovered them at around 15 I think. So if that description seems sort of interesting, I'd urge you to give them a listen because nobody really knows who they are.

Here's their 3rd full-length CD, 'Have A Nice Day' - there's also some bonus material on this: the last 5 tracks are from their 1997 'Charity' demo tape.

Agitate - Grind Enlightenment (2011)

Agitate is a two-piece mincecore band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. I'm not sure exactly when they formed but definitely quite recently, maybe even within the year 2011. Musically and probably lyrically, these guys are totally recognizable as being part of the recent pulverizing, crusty, even fastcore-leaning mincing wave of bands that's been coming out of the states; more 'known' bands like Misanthropic Noise, Lt. Dan, Pizza Hi-Five and the like may ring a bell. But I feel that this band is doing something a little different from that scene, I can't quite put my finger on it but it's fucking rad. A slab of excellent stupidly fast as shit fun right here and with lyrics revolving mainly around sci-fi, weed and American stereotypes, there's not much else to say other than you've reached the pinochle of grinding idiocy (I mean that in the best way possible). Here's - what I think is? - their first release, 'Grind Enlightenment' - a self-released demo CD.

G.O.D. - Neurofibromatosis (2007)

G.O.D. - or Grotesque Organ Defilement - are an old-style goregrind band from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. They formed in 2006 and since, continue to play local gigs relatively frequently. All members also used to play in a mincegrind / thrashcore band called F.A.T.O. - Forever Annihilating The Obese - who called it quits a few years ago due to the unfortunate death of founding member, Michael Majewski.

Anyway, G.O.D. plays goregrind at it's finest - definitely NOT the stupid misogynistic porno drum-machine garbage that the average person thinks of when they hear the word goregrind. Rather, think of slasher film inspired lyrical content in combination with the early days of grind during the late 1980s-early 1990s, where the punk roots of the genre were exceptionally obvious - and thus, raging as fuck. Here's their second release ever, 'Neurofibromatosis' - which is a self-released demo CD-R that was released in 2007.

First Post!

So there's not a whole lot that I can think of to say. I just started this page because I want to share noise.

In some way, I see music blogging as somewhat of the next generation of tape trading, in that both serve as a hidden network of sharing for underground music. And I personally feel that network serves its purpose when it allows one to enter a portal into a normally hidden scene. The word 'community' also strangely comes to mind when I think of my own experiences finding and learning about music through blogs, because when the entirety of a scene is not at your disposal, it makes the means of finding it somewhat more special.

I'm going to try to post mostly newer or recent bands that are still active, rather than uncover largely hidden gems from the past. I guess this is because a 'scene' is more or less viewed in present-tense, and is associated with very 'present-tense' practices - gigs, new labels, new bands, new releases, trading, etc. It's not at all that past music is to be forgotten or undermined, in a way; the spirit, no matter what, remains the same but the particulars evolve and change.

Lastly, I think music blogging also represents that music - like billions of other things - MUST be something that everyone can be free to access, regardless of what something as irrelevant as their financial situation is. I  personally find it a tragedy that the term 'music industry' even exists, but really anyone who has any genuine interest in and knowledge of art, creativity and how grindcore came to be in the first place would fully understand that we don't care about profit, even if such a form of music was 'profitable', which it is not. That said, I am strongly against the concept of 'property rights' in regards to music or the idea that any of us really own anything, and so money is something entirely irrelevant to real art - or to anything. However, these are just my views and I will respect - although not necessarily agree with - those which contrast; if you would like something taken down from my blog, please just ask.

Anyway, if anyone bothered to actually read this, thanks and grind on!
